Natalia Sakado was born and raised in a city where she developed a passion for languages from a young age. After finishing school, she pursued her studies at a Pedagogical Institute, where she started teaching English while still a student.
Her life followed a predictable path until 2008 when she met a group of students from Ghana. At the time, she knew very little about this distant West African country, but this encounter changed everything for her.
Among the students was Frank, a serious and determined young man. For six months, they crossed paths in the same social circles but never spoke to each other.
Then, one day, Frank made an unexpected move. He approached Natalia with a direct proposal—to start dating, get to know each other better, and eventually build a life together. His confidence and honesty left a strong impression on her, and she decided to take a chance on this unusual beginning.
On May 29, 2011, Natalia and Frank officially became husband and wife. A month later, they had a wedding ceremony in a Lutheran church. After completing his studies, Frank was ready for the next step, and they made the decision to move to Ghana and start a new chapter in their lives.
When Natalia became pregnant, she experienced an unexpected challenge in their intercultural marriage. One day, she received a disturbing message from a stranger on social media. The person accused her of betraying her roots, using cruel words to insult her and her unborn child. The message was so upsetting that it left Natalia shaken for a long time.
When their first child was born, she struggled with fear and hesitation, even dreading simple walks outside. She constantly looked over her shoulder, feeling uneasy.
However, everything changed when they settled in Ghana. Here, she was welcomed with warmth and kindness, and her fears gradually faded away.
