Nicolas Cage made a rare public appearance with his wife Riko Shibata in New York — but it was the actor’s surprising transformation that instantly stole attention online.
The 62-year-old Hollywood star attended the premiere of ‘Spider-Noir’, marking his first leading role in a television series and his first major project connected to a Marvel character.
By his side was 31-year-old Riko Shibata, who chose an elegant black-and-white outfit for the evening. She wore a white shirt with lace mesh sleeves, a black peplum top and a flowing midi skirt, finishing the look with platform shoes and a black chain-strap handbag.
But fans quickly became distracted by Cage himself.
The Oscar-winning actor appeared with noticeably fuller hair, darker coloring and even thick sideburns — a dramatic change from his usual appearance. His hair was styled back and dyed a deep reddish shade, making the transformation even more obvious under the cameras.
Many people online immediately started speculating about what exactly changed, with some convinced the actor may have undergone a hair procedure while others guessed he could simply be wearing a wig.
Cage kept his outfit classic with a black suit, white shirt and patterned dark-blue tie while posing closely beside his wife on the red carpet.
Later in the evening, he was joined by several cast members from the new series during the premiere event.
Nicolas and Riko first met in Japan in 2020 during filming shortly before the pandemic began. She later became the actor’s fifth wife after the couple married in Las Vegas in 2021. Together they are raising their three-year-old daughter August.
