Melissa Sloan says tattoos became her way of surviving painful memories from her past. But today, her extreme appearance has completely changed the way society treats her.
The 45-year-old woman from Wales has covered nearly every part of her face and body with tattoos after spending decades constantly adding new ink. According to Melissa, she now visits tattoo studios around three times a week and has already had more than 800 tattoos done over the past 25 years.

But behind the shocking appearance is a much darker story.
Melissa revealed that she suffered abuse from her older brother while growing up and felt ignored whenever she tried asking authorities for help. She says getting tattoos eventually became her emotional escape and helped her “hide from the world.”
What began as a coping mechanism slowly turned into an obsession.

Today, Melissa admits her appearance often leads to rejection in everyday life. She says she struggles to find work in Wales and has even been refused entry to some pubs because of the way she looks.
The most painful situation for her, however, involves her children.

Melissa says she is no longer welcome at school events because administrators worry her appearance could “shock” other students and parents.
According to her, teachers once suggested she stand outside the school building and watch a performance through a window instead of attending normally.

As a result, Melissa’s partner now usually attends public school events alone while she stays away.
Despite the criticism and constant judgment from strangers, Melissa insists she has no plans to stop getting tattoos anytime soon.
