Hailey and Justin Bieber appeared to hit a tense moment while attending Finneas O’Connell and Claudia Sulewski’s wedding in Santa Barbara. The 29-year-old model and 32-year-old singer were photographed together at the celebration, but several images suggested the mood wasn’t entirely romantic.
Justin shared his own photos with Hailey, although his serious expression quickly attracted attention. Other pictures from the event captured what appeared to be an animated conversation between the spouses beneath the Southern California sun.
Hailey was seen gesturing dramatically while Justin stood nearby looking more detached. At one point, she appeared to give her husband an intense look before walking away from him.
Body-language expert Judi James said Hailey looking back at Justin as he walked away could create an impression of tension. She also noted his hunched posture and loosely hanging arms, which made him appear less upbeat.
However, James cautioned against assuming the photographs proved the couple had actually argued. Hailey appeared to be pointing at something other than Justin while gesturing, meaning the exchange could simply have been an animated conversation caught at an unfortunate moment.
The images come shortly after the Biebers celebrated son Jack Blues’ second birthday on August 22. They are also approaching their eighth wedding anniversary on September 13.
Justin has previously admitted to difficult moments in their marriage, including once telling Hailey she would never appear on the cover of *Vogue*, a comment he later acknowledged was disrespectful and cruel. The couple also traded pointed social-media messages around Mother’s Day and Father’s Day earlier this year.
