A few months ago when Mateja was driving home from work she came across a kitten wandering alone near a busy intersection.
“I was cycling along my usual route and as I approached the intersection I noticed a small fluffy creature and realized that it was a tiny kitten who was clearly emaciated ”tells Mateja.
The woman got off her vehicle and approached the kitten with the intention of pushing him away from the road. The cute little tramp saw her from afar and ran to her as if he was already ready to accept help.
Mateja carefully put the kitten in her backpack to transport him safe and sound. The striped baby was completely emaciated. The bones were sticking out but he slept all the way home with joy and relief.
“He slept on the bundles of clothes in my backpack. Judging by his bad appearance he hadn’t slept properly for a long time and now he realized that he could finally relax, rested for most of that day. “
Mateja took the kitten to the vet where it became clear how seriously emaciated he was. The cutie was half the size it should be at his age.
“His cute big ears constantly reminded me of the Gizmo of the Gremlins. That’s where his name comes from,” says Mateja.
“It is so good that we found each other. I finished work late that day. If I had left on time I probably wouldn’t have met him.”
Gizmo immediately got used to his new family. He ate with a great appetite and stretched out on his own blanket resting his head on a teddy bear.
“After the extensive veterinary care Gizmo has gradually recovered and is now the most energetic kitten who follows me all day,” says Mateja.
He met Sarah who is a red-striped cat and she is ten years older than him.
Over the next weeks Gizmo made tremendous progress because he not only recovered completely, but now he also has a well grown fur on his body.
He became completely tame, loving, and took on the role of a house inspector – looking after his family members, simultaneously begging for sweets and hugging them all the time.
Gizmo adores his family and he gives them lots of love and always brings a smile to their faces.
“Every morning when I get up and every day when I return home after work, he greets me, playfully tilting his head and flopping down on his back so that I could scratch his furry belly – what could be nicer,” Mateja says.
“He loves kissing on the nose, stroking my belly and jumping on my back like a backpack – I guess he remembers our trip on first day of our meeting.”
Gizmo the cutie is no longer that frightened as on the first day and he is already a matured handsome young creature.
“Gizmo brought a lot of joy into my life, and I am so happy that I can repay him with my love.”
