Jaguarundi is similar to the small puma, but much more friendly and absolutely captious about food. However, the cat’s passion for hunting is so strong, that this is what stopped people from completely taming this animal: instead of protecting houses from small rodents, jaguarundis themselves gladly eat their owners chickens.
Jaguarundis are diurnal
Seeing such a cat somewhere on the forest on the grass, anyone would think, that this is a puma’s child or an overgrown marten. The jaguarundi is about the size of a normal domestic cat, but is much longer and more pliable. These cats are brown and bright red, they were indeed once detached into two independent species (jaguarundi and air cat), but then they found out, that the colour is just a colour, and in one litter there can be kittens both grey-brown and bright-redhead.
The jaguarundi has a tall figure, related to that of a marten or weasel
It is curious, that little puma is completely picky about food-it eats what is easily given. If a lizard runs nearby, that’s great, if a guinea pig gets caught, it’s gorgeous and if no one is around then bananas and grapes will also come off.
In captivity, these cats live up to 10 years
It is not easy to determine the jaguarundi by the sound: these animals can make many absolutely distinctive sounds from the usual meow and purr, to the bird’s whistle and chirp.

Jaguarundi now live mainly in South and Central America, although there is also a small population in the southern United States. Sometimes jaguarundi can be seen as a pet-these cats are easy to tame and get along well with people.
