In a magazine interview, Jolie discussed her role in *Maria*, a film about opera singer Maria Callas. She revealed that the project helped her process the personal pain from her divorce with Brad Pitt.
“I had to take a deep breath and let it all out. In the process, I found my true voice, which had been hidden by my own pain, softness, and many emotions I didn’t even know I had. I didn’t feel safe expressing those feelings, but the music in the film required me to open up parts of myself I wasn’t ready to face.”
