The 56-year-old journalist and entrepreneur accompanied her husband, Jeff Bezos, to a lavish White House state dinner honoring Chinese President Xi Jinping — and her glamorous outfit quickly became one of the night’s most noticeable looks.
For the occasion, Sánchez reached into fashion history rather than choosing a brand-new creation. She wore a vintage black Alexander McQueen gown from the 2000s, featuring a dramatic off-the-shoulder neckline that emphasized her figure and exposed her shoulders and décolletage.
She kept the accessories dark and polished with Christian Louboutin heels and a black clutch. Her long brunette hair was worn loose and swept over one shoulder, leaving plenty of room for the most extravagant detail of the ensemble to take center stage.
Around her neck was a large diamond necklace finished with an eye-catching pendant. Against the open neckline of the black dress, the jewelry became impossible to miss and added another dose of drama to an already attention-grabbing appearance.
Bezos attended the dinner as one of several powerful American business figures invited to the White House. Executives and representatives connected with Apple, NVIDIA, Microsoft and Tesla were also among the guests. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, to the East Room for the formal evening.
This was hardly Sánchez’s first experience with White House glamour. In April, she and Bezos attended another state dinner, this time held for Britain’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Sánchez once again chose an off-the-shoulder black dress, accessorizing it on that occasion with an elaborate Lorraine Schwartz necklace featuring Colombian emeralds.
But one of her most controversial Washington fashion moments came during Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025. After removing her coat during the ceremony marking Trump’s return as the 47th president of the United States, Sánchez revealed a white trouser suit with a white lace bra clearly visible underneath the jacket — a styling choice that immediately triggered a wave of reactions.
