“He said they looked exactly alike—then the photo went viral” 👦🏾👦🏻❤️ Little Myles just wanted to match with his best friend for Twin Day. What his mom saw in the photo—and what he didn’t—touched hearts around the world. See the moment that reminded everyone how kids truly see each other in the article below 👇
Little Myles truly believed he looked exactly like one of the boys in his class. He was so sure of it that he kept telling his mom over and over again, asking her to dress him and his friend Tanner the same for their school’s Twin Day.
At first, his mom, Britney Tankersley, wasn’t so sure. She didn’t know who this Tanner was, how to reach his mom, or where she would even find matching outfits on short notice.
“He kept insisting they looked just the same,” Britney shared on Facebook. “He said, ‘We both have brown eyes and black hair!’” Britney thought it was a bit late to be getting into this, but she still wanted to support her son.
Even though it was already late at night, Britney tracked down Tanner’s mom, then headed to their local Walmart around 9 p.m. Amazingly, she found two matching button-down shirts in the boys’ sizes. The shirts had a message on them: “Future Leader.”
The next day, for Twin Day, Britney asked the teacher to send her a photo of Myles and Tanner together. When she got the picture, she was shocked.
Looking at the image, she saw two boys who looked nothing alike. But Myles didn’t see those differences. He just saw a friend. Britney’s heart melted.
“I cried. It was just so sweet. I expected to see another light-skinned child with brown hair. But I didn’t. And that’s what made it so beautiful,” she said.
She shared the picture and the story on Facebook, and it quickly went viral—over 510,000 likes and more than 50,000 comments from people touched by the story.
“I’m not someone who likes a lot of attention,” Britney admitted. “But this message is bigger than me. It’s about how kids see the world.”
One user commented, “What an amazing boy you’re raising. He sees people for who they are.” Another said, “This made me cry. What a reminder of how innocent and kind we all start out.”
Myles showed the world that love and friendship have no color—and that kids sometimes see things in a much better way than adults do.
