Every one of you has definitely heard of this American star. As an actor, producer, director and author, he gained widespread recognition for his appearance on the sitcom Happy Days. Winkler became a distinguished figure on stage and screen having received a number of accolades. Shortly after studying at both Emerson College and the Yale School of Drama, he was cast in a minor role in «The Mary Tyler Moore Show». However, it wasn’t until «Happy Days» that he gained recognition.
Only few have known much about his past struggles. He has struggled with dyslexia and hard schoolwork having a complicated relationship with his father who wanted him to follow in his path and continue the family business. The man got frustrated once Winkler decided to focus on acting. Everyone called him a dumb dog having no idea what a superstar he would become. This was mainly conditioned by his bad grades. The future legend was often punished for not exceling in school.
What is more, he was not even allowed to attend the graduation having to repeat geometry for the 4th time during summer school. Interestingly enough, he was accepted to only 2 colleges after applying to 28. He had a plan to become a child psychologist if he failed to become an actor. He acted in films «Heroes», «Night Shift» and «Scream» that made him an outstanding figure. Winkler also wrote three memoirs. His book «Hank Zipzer» even added to his popularity and high acclaim.
He has served as a prime example of what an incredible path one can carve out from being a neglected child with dyslexia into a world-renowned star being a big inspiration.
