Brooklyn Beckham has managed to get people talking about his cooking again, but this time the reaction is far from flattering. His latest culinary experiment aboard a luxury yacht triggered disbelief after viewers saw exactly what he poured into the pot.
The aspiring cook was preparing spaghetti when he collected seawater directly beside the yacht and used it to cook the pasta. He then made a tomato sauce with oil, tomatoes, salt and his own spicy sauce before tasting the finished dish. Judging by Brooklyn’s reaction, he was perfectly satisfied with the result.
People watching online were considerably less enthusiastic. Many immediately focused on where the water had come from and questioned whether using seawater collected next to a yacht was hygienic.
The unusual method quickly inspired jokes about what might have been floating in the surrounding water, with commenters mentioning everything from fuel to oil and other contaminants. There is no evidence, however, that the water Brooklyn actually used contained any of those substances.
Others suspected the controversial move may have been deliberate. Some viewers described the clip as possible “ragebait” — content designed to irritate people enough to generate comments, reactions and shares.
Using seawater in cooking isn’t completely absurd in itself. Because it naturally contains plenty of salt, it can serve a similar purpose to salted cooking water. The important issue is whether the seawater being used comes from a suitably clean source.
