Animals, like people, have a lot of empathy for relatives in trouble, but not always enough to trust another being – a person. This funny little foal from South Wales did not also know if the two-legged being could be trusted, but he had no choice.
Inspectors from the Royal Society for the prevention of animal cruelty arrived at the Likhorsky Estuary when they were informed of a “strange horse” in the swamps. The area is not the most convenient for ungulates. The main thing is to get out on time, but the fact of the matter is that the foal prancing over the bumps was clearly not going to do this. He wanted to get people’s attention!
When arrived , the inspectors quickly figured out what the problem was. An adult horse, apparently the mother of a foal, somehow managed to get entangled by the hoof of its hind leg in its own long mane. Because of this, it lay on the ground in a strange position, and with each attempt to get up, it fell to the ground clumsily. The horse looked tired, and the excited foal ran around and squealed; will you save it? Will you save it?
The inspectors simply cut the tangled strands on the mane and freed the horse from an unusual captivity. Not immediately, far from the first attempt, it got to her feet and wandered off. But then it stopped, called the foal to her with a demanding neigh and the two of them seemed to bow to the people, thanked them before leaving. Or did it just seem so at dusk?
There is no doubt that if the foal had not called for help, the horse would have died. And without her, the baby would probably not have survived either – people arrived just in time.
