We are responsible for those creatures which we have tamed, and they make use of that fact. According to Tom Johns, remorse and modesty are not among the virtues of his pet, the squirrel Chippy. Although they should have been, after the case when this wounded creature was saved by a man , who settled it in conditions that should seem like a paradise to a wild Karelian squirrel!
Chippy was a tiny creature with a damaged leg. Its mother abandoned Chippy when Tom found it. And although Tom knows the rule not to bring home creatures which are from the wild, he could not resist. The orphan looked very pitiful, which cannot be said at all from the current photos of Chippy.
The little beast quickly got used to its new life , recovered, thought about it and decided to stay. And why not? The food is excellent, a good friendship with the cat, there are no dangers and the warmth is provided, and yet – not boring. Tom understood that Chippy didn’t want to go back to the forest and he could not refuse such a cutie.
Today, when Chippy has got used to its new lifestyle, it gladly performs the functions of an unofficial psychotherapist, entertaining its owner with its careless behavior. It is a pleasure to watch the behavior of a hungry squirrel. Tom had to buy a cage and special feed for little Chippy, and he also bought a training course for Chippy which already knows several commands.
