In the neighborhood of Portoferraio (Italy), sailors, noticed a strange creature with a miniature shark fin when they were making a detour around the territory. Without thinking for a long time, the officers decided to catch the creature and were literally shocked from what they saw.
Instead of the usual muzzle of a predator, it had a pig’s snout. Rumors quickly spread among the inhabitants of the port, who sometimes came up with fantastic versions of the origin of such a find.
After the study, it turned out that there are no oddities, and the fish belongs to the “Common centrina” family. Experts were more surprised by another fact, because such predators live at a depth of more than 700 meters and it is impossible to find them on the surface.
It also turned out that this species is listed in the Red Book and is almost under the danger of extinction.
A photo of the caught creature was published, but the reaction of people was not what the sailors had expected. Many people accused them of poaching and asked the authorities to ensure that the naval officers were punished for this according to the current legislation.
But according to the authorities, the fish is safe, and experts, on the contrary, are trying to do everything to save this endangered species.
