A 50-year-old resident of Newcastle, UK was seriously scared for his dog. His four-legged Giant Schnauzer who was named Alfie needed an urgent veterinary help. And the golf balls are to blame for this.
Neil Taylor is Alfie’s owner who let his dog run on a golf course which was near their home. It was just empty due to the pandemic so it became an ideal place for a frisky dog.
The very pet of Neal named Alfie.
It turned out that Alfie wasn’t only frolicking but he was also happily eating golf balls that were forgotten on the field which his owner couldn’t even suspect!
The consequences of eating golf balls didn’t appear immediately. At first Alfie quieted down very noticeably, then he even fainted and after that he vomited four balls altogether. The owner was horrified when he saw what was there in Alfie’s stomach all this time! So concerned about the well-being of his pet Neil decided to take him to the vet.
This is what the X-ray showed.
The golf balls turned out to be akin to a sugar bone and therefore during the walk he managed to eat as many as 26 pieces!
Of course, the doggy needed an operation immediately! The surgeons managed to extract absolutely all the balls.
Here are the photos of some of them.
The golf balls weigh only 46 grams but Alfie carried over a kilo of this things in him when considering the quantity!
Alfie’s operation cost 2.5 thousand pounds. Some of this amount of money was covered by the insurance but Neil still had to pay a thousand pounds.
Alfie is worth every penny! I always say that he is like a son to me – mentions the owner of the dog.
Now Alfie feels great, although he will have to walk around in a muzzle to wean himself from the habit of grabbing strange objects from the floor. But it is clear that with such a kind owner he will definitely be safe!
