The two cats raised 8 kittens not even knowing who was their own cub and who was a stranger. Now the two of them are on duty at the glass door piercingly looking at each visitor to the shelter.
Earlier this month, Exploits Valley SPCA Animal Shelter (in Canada) hosted two poor mommy cats with eight kittens. A large family was picked up from the street by the animal rights activists of the Boyd’s Cove TNR Project.
The mother cats were very small and each of them didn’t weigh even two kilograms. They were barely a year old and they helped each other to take care of the children. “They are presumably sisters and they raise their eight kittens together,” says Sarah who is an employee of the shelter.
“They are so inseparable that they even walk with their tails intertwined.”
With the help of many volunteers the large family moved into a comfortable room at the shelter where you can run, climb cat climbing frames, play with toys and eat plenty of food.
Xeno and Ripley the sisters-cats acquired offspring at the same time and began to raise their children together. The demanding babies didn’t let their mothers relax.
The older and more independent the kittens become the more time their mothers spend at the glass door looking pleadingly at the people who were passing by.
“Their favorite pastime at the shelter is to sit by the glass door and watch what happens in the hallway. They are very attractive catties and they love attention so much, ”tells Sarah.
Whoever comes to the door the sisters run up to greet all visitors trying to win their favor. They happily accept the caresses and hugs and both of them enjoy the attention of people.
“Everyone is so small but with a strong character in this small family.”
The two loving kitties are hoping to find one home for two of them so that they will never be separated.
“They will gladly let their children to go to the caring owners’ houses but they also want to get into the same family themselves.”
Lots of adopters are already showing interest in some kittens and Xeno and Ripley are still waiting for the owners of their dreams.
“They are almost kittens themselves in size but they manage to be great mothers for their eight children,” says Sarah.
And the kids become very playful and inquisitive, moreover, one of them has already been adopted.
Xeno and Ripley are ready to say goodbye to motherhood forever and to find loving owners for themselves in order always to be in the spotlight.
They continue to welcome each visitor through the glass door in the hope that one day their dream will come true.
