This story is almost half a century old. In 1974, the owner of Alma couldn’t persuade the staff to take the dog on board without a certificate at the airport. Because of the eye damage the East European Shepherd Dog didn’t pass the veterinary control.
The owner was the last person to go on board and before that he took off the doggy’s collar and said goodbye to his darling for a long time. The dog had been running along the runway for a long time trying to catch up with the airplane. The cutie refused to leave the airport. Nothing forced Alma to leave her place. The airport staff got used to it and they began to feed and protect the shepherd.
They tried to explain Alma who was looking for his owner that it was useless to wait for the owner. After that, the pilots often saw the shepherd dog who met every IL airplane with great hope.
After reading some articles about the loyal doggy thousands of people from all over the USSR wanted to help the shepherd.
Knowing that Alma wouldn’t leave her post on her own will she was given sleeping pills so that they were able to take her out of the airport. People tried to speak softly and quietly to the cutie and the doors were always open so that Alma didn’t feel like a prisoner. The woman realized that the dog accepted her new family when she saw how tenderly she touched her sleeping daughter. The shepherd dog became a mother for the house’s pets and she no longer was willing to leave “her” people.
This story was so touching that there were even some films made on the basis of it.
