“Justin made the right choice” 😳🫣 Selena Gomez faces a new wave of cruel body-shaming comments after sharing recent photos 🤯🫢 But she’s not staying silent—fans rally to support the singer who’s bravely battling health issues 💪 Read the full story in the article below 👇
“Since when has she become obese?” “Justin Bieber was right to choose Hailey,” “I don’t understand how she let herself go like that,” and “I thought lupus made people lose weight, not gain it.” These are just some of the cruel comments directed at Selena Gomez recently.
The singer and founder of Rare Beauty looked stunning in a white Versace dress at the SAG Awards, but once again, she became a target of body-shaming and fatphobia.
Although Selena has not responded to the criticism, many people online have rushed to defend her, emphasizing that no one should judge her appearance or compare her to her ex-boyfriend’s wife.
Some users reminded others of how mockery can negatively impact mental health, especially for someone like Selena, who has spoken out about the harm these comments have caused her before.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Selena has faced fatphobia. In 2023, when she attended the Golden Globes, she received a lot of negative comments about her appearance, which eventually led her to address them.
“I have lupus and deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure, so I go through a lot of health problems,” she said during a live video on social media, explaining that the medications she takes for lupus can cause weight fluctuations. “That’s when I began to notice how much people focus on body image.”
Selena also wanted to send a message to others who face similar struggles: “I want to encourage everyone who feels ashamed of what they’re going through. No one knows the full story. I just want people to know they’re beautiful.”
More recently, she shared that she has come to terms with the fact that she will never look like she did during her teenage years—and she’s completely at peace with it.
