Rita Wilson has surprised fans with an unexpected new look. The 69-year-old actress and singer, who has been married to Tom Hanks for decades, posed with her back to the camera and revealed an enormous ornamental cross stretching across almost her entire back.
In the striking photo, Wilson wears her hair pulled into a bun, leaving the intricate design completely exposed. The geometric cross begins near the base of her neck and continues all the way down toward her lower back.
And it wasn’t the only detail people noticed. Another design could be seen on her shoulder, featuring what appeared to be a sun intertwined with an infinity symbol.
Wilson shared the unusual image while promoting her new single, “Stranger With Age.” Playing on the song’s title, she joked that she actually enjoys becoming a little stranger as the years go by.
“Stranger with age? Who? Me? Yes, I like it!” she wrote, before asking followers whether they also felt they were getting stranger with age.
One major question, however, remains unanswered. Wilson hasn’t revealed whether the enormous cross is a permanent tattoo or temporary body art created specifically for the photo.

Some followers have speculated that the symbolism could be connected to Wilson’s Greek and Bulgarian heritage and her Orthodox Christian faith, although the singer herself has not explained the meaning behind the design.
