John Goodman has once again left people doing a double take. The 74-year-old “The Big Lebowski” star appeared in London showing off the results of his dramatic 200-pound weight loss — and he looks remarkably different from the actor many fans remember.
Goodman’s transformation didn’t happen overnight. The actor began seriously changing his lifestyle nearly two decades ago after reaching a point where he knew he needed to reconsider his approach to his health.
“I just got tired, sick and tired of looking at myself in the mirror,” Goodman previously admitted while discussing the motivation behind his transformation.
Rather than relying on a short-term fix, the Hollywood veteran gradually introduced healthier habits into his everyday routine. Regular exercise became an important part of his life, including outdoor activities, boxing workouts and simply taking his dogs for walks.
The result has been a staggering loss of around 90 kilograms, or roughly 200 pounds. His latest appearance once again highlighted just how dramatically his physique has changed over the years.
Goodman is currently appearing in “Digger,” directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, in which he plays the president of the United States. The cast also includes Tom Cruise, Sandra Hüller and Jesse Plemons.
At 74, however, Goodman’s latest photos are generating attention for something beyond his new role — many longtime fans may barely recognize the star they first watched decades ago.
