There was noticed a ginger cat in Mansfield, Texas earlier this year who was clearly in distress. We saw her crawling to a safe place ,dragging her feet. Susan Edstrom who is the founder and president of Four Paws One Heart found out about this case and rushed to help.
“The cat has a strong will to live. We took her to several different veterinarians and we also got X-rays and examinations and it was soon found that there was an object stuck in her spine,” says Susan.
It was decided to leave the cutie alone in order to prevent him from further damage.
They also saw something wonderful thanks to the X-ray. The catty was pregnant to everyone’s surprise. She went through all the trials so that her kittens could live.
She was given the name Chelsea and over the next few weeks when the beauty was overexposed she proved her resilience.
She didn’t give up trying to move her legs and use them. She dragged herself to training every day, without any exception.
Once Chelsea just got up on her four paws, took the first steps and … continued walking. A few days later, she learned to use the tray and even expanded her range of motion so much that she scratched behind her ears with her hind legs.
On March 31, Chelsea gave birth to five kittens on her own in a comfortable nest. She seemed to be preparing herself all this time to start taking care of her cute children.
Chelsea was a wonderful mother who was so careful to her kittens and she was looking after them so that they grew into blooming and inquisitive teenagers. When the babies were ready for adoption they quickly found their new and caring families.
Chelsea is still suspicious of people whereas Baby Georgie loves the attention of everyone she meets.
“They are constantly together. The boy often falls asleep next to his mother, putting his paw on her as a protector,” tells Susan.
Chelsea has made lots of progress. She is now able to wiggle her hind limbs before jumping and she can also climb a tree on her own.
“She deserves to always have a soft bed and a loving person.”
