An Australian woman found a strange animal in her backyard. We thought it was a dog, but it turned out to be a predatory beast

This story took place on August 25, 2019. A resident of Victoria (a state in southeastern Australia) woke up on Sunday to the fact, that someone was whining in the bushes in her backyard. It turned out to be a puppy, but very unusual and fluffy. Discovering the finding, the woman turned to Facebook for help, asking people what kind of adorable animal it was.

An Australian woman found a strange puppy in the backyard in August

She asked on Facebook, what kind of animal it is

The users had doubts, many people decided, that this was an unusual domestic dog. Someone claimed, that it was a fox, and some were sure, that it was a dingo-an Australian predatory dog. The woman took the puppy to the specialist on Monday, and returned with the decree: yes, it is really a dingo.

It turned out to be a dingo

Kind, of course wanted to remain the cute creature with them, but mother didn’t leave a wild animal in the house, although the animal wasn’t afraid of people at all and was very calm. The vet Revecca Day to whom they took the puppy, also told CNN, that as soon as they found the puppy, people thought, that it was someone’s lost dog and decided not to touch it. But no one searched for her and no one wanted to take it, and then suspicions crept in.

How did the dingo puppy appeared in the backyard?

For this situation, the vet also has an opinion. Revecca told, that she noticed stretches on his back, most likely, these are the marks from the claws of a predatory bird. It is possible, it kidnapped the baby from the family and planned to feast on it, but it didn’t work out.

What happened after getting to the vet?

Knowing about the dog Dingo, Lin Watson, the   director of Australian Dingo Foundation contacted to Revecca. She announced, that she was ready to take the puppy under her care and asked the vet to send his genetic samples to the University of New South Wales for research.

Now the puppy’s name is Wendy, and he lives with other dingos in a specialised fund

The research took 6-8 weeks, and finally the result became known. Wendy is a purebred dingo. The foundation team was delighted. Now it will become an important part of their breeding program, which includes about 49 adults. After all, one of the tasks of the foundation is the preservation of purebred dingoes.

Moreover, Wendy is also an endangered mountain dingo breed

As Lin Watson told to ABC, Wendy is a breed of mountain dingo, and especially this type worries this organisation most, because they live where 80% of the population of Australia lives, and are close to extinction. This is why Wendy is so important for the preservation of the species.

Wendy grew up during this time

He has his own Instagram account

There are photos, where he is very little

Anyone can watch him grow up

What he has become, now no bird will take him away. Good luck Wendy!
